Will is a 70’s baby with a wide range of musical interests. He sincerely loves many different kinds of music, everything from classic rock to hip hop. He takes pride in getting to know everyone he meets, having lived in several states and around all kinds of people. We would describe Will as a really friendly guy in addition to being a very talented wedding DJ. Will says, “To be chosen to make your special day even more awesome is a true honor. I will do any and everything I can to make your day a truly incredible celebration. Details are extremely important and no job or request is too small.” Will honestly means this. In addition to the usual things that make a great DJ (playing great music that will get your guests up and dancing, careful planning with you before your big day, following that plan to a ‘t’ and yet being flexible enough to change the plan if you would like that, giving you lots of fun ideas for your party, taking requests if you allow it, professionally MC’ing all of your special wedding events, etc., etc.)… in addition to those basic things, there’s a special personality trait that Will possesses that our clients really notice and appreciate. He sincerely cares about the little details… those of course that are important to you, but also maybe some that you might not even notice at your wedding. Here’s just one example of what we’re talking about: at a wedding Will DJ’d for a couple in Charlotte… one of the servers mistakenly dropped a glass on the dance floor during dinner. The glass shattered of course. The server cleaned it up, but honestly perhaps not quite as well as it should have been cleaned up. I mean, haven’t you seen some women barefoot out on a dance floor? Little glass slivers on your feet is a scary thought! Just to make sure no one got hurt, during dinner Will went out on the dance floor and around the dance floor picking up pieces of glass that the server missed. He picked up some pieces that flew even 10-15 feet away, all while keeping the dinner music playing. This might seem like a small thing, but sometimes minor details can be extremely important and Will is especially careful about noticing that kind of thing. Whether it’s a very special version of your first dance song, pronouncing the names of your wedding party correctly, or picking up broken glass on a dance floor– Will will take good care of you!
From Lakshmi and JB: “My wife and I were very satisfied with the entire service process. From Day One when we met with Ted (the manager), to the day we met face-to-face with our DJ, to the actual wedding day, everything went smoothly. We were also very impressed and happy with the services of our DJ. My wife and I had an Indian-American wedding with a wide mix of music. Our DJ did an incredible job mixing the different genres of music and reading our crowd.” About our DJ, ‘Doc’ Johnson, at Shady Wagon Farm, New Hill, 6/18/17) From Melissa and Brandon: ”Doc was amazing! He did a great job with the ceremony music and knew how to keep people on the dance floor during the reception!” (About our DJ, ‘Doc’ Johnson, at Treyburn Country Club in Durham, 6/17/17) Doc hails from Ohio, California, and now makes his home in North Carolina. He can bring his wide musical taste and talents to your wedding or special event. Not only will he MC your event, he will also pack the floor with a fun and energetic dance party. What is your DJ personality? My DJ personality is very unique. I’m very outgoing and love to make sure everyone has a great time. I like to carefully study the crowd and play music that will not only fit the occasion but also make sure everyone enjoys themselves. What is your DJ style? My DJ style is really like a Chameleon. I’m able to conform to whatever the setting calls for. Any unique event you have DJ’d that you can tell us about? An Indian – American wedding. I was given a list of Bollywood songs by the bride, and some Disco/Funk songs by the groom. And Guess what? There’s no difference! I was able to mix Jackson 5, Chittiyaan Kalaiyaan, and the Temptations in the same night! Everyone had a great time. What is your favorite thing about being a DJ? Seeing people make the “Oh Snap!” face, when I play something that hits them right in their soul. What makes you unique / stand out as a DJ? One HUGE thing is my love for ALL music. Music is the international language that we all speak. I really love using it as my tool to bring people together. I also use certain techniques such as mixing and multi-layered effects (when appropriate) to set myself apart from amateur DJs. Why did you become a DJ? I LOVE music, but especially, what it does to people. As a DJ, I’m able to remove people from their everyday lives and place them in a 5-6 hour movie featuring the perfect soundtrack.
Dan grew up in upstate New York and graduated from the State University of New York at Oneonta with a bachelor’s degree in Anthropology. During his years in New York he spent a lot of time attending music lessons, and performing onstage in musicals and dance shows. Daniel’s fun-loving spirit and humorous yet professional disposition, mixed with his diverse musical tastes help him to read the crowd and play the music needed to get your party started and keep it going. “I am convinced that there are great songs in every genre – except maybe for muzak (that old cheesy grocery store music!) Glad we don’t hear that too much anymore!” – Daniel
One of Dan’s most memorable and unique experiences as a wedding DJ– he played music at a wedding for a group of actors and directors: “Every time I played a show tune the crowd sang and danced in unison as if they had rehearsed the choreography countless times before; which, now that I think about it, they probably had. Either way it was truly wondrous to behold– and pretty cool! We certainly play the hits, old and new, but no matter the type of music you love, we pay careful attention to what YOU want for your wedding celebration.”
Daniel was recently a guest at a wedding that had a band instead of a DJ. Although the band played REALLY well, they didn’t seem to have a good sense of how to control the flow of a wedding. The reception started at 6 pm and the band didn’t start playing good dancing music until about 9 p.m. (after the reception was more than half-way over.) Dan shares some thoughts about that party: “Please don’t get me wrong, I LOVE a great band! But lots of folks just wanted to dance and the band had us waiting too long , not to mention the fact that they never drew attention to the cake cutting, nor did they introduce the bride and groom. Everyone had a good time, and the band really rocked once they found their stride, but I think they overlooked some important details. If I had been the DJ for this reception, I definitely would not have forgotten about the bride and groom, I would have engaged the crowd more, and gotten the party started earlier.”
Daniel loves being involved in the entertainment industry. “I really come alive when I get people singing, dancing, and celebrating life and love. DJ’ing with Complete has allowed me to make this my job. Awesome right!?”
“We had a fantastic time at our daughter’s wedding. Billy was wonderful. He made sure we stayed on track, got everything done, and had a great time. I would highly recommend Billy Ezzell and Complete for any event you have planned.” (Maricia Saylor) Billy likes to create fun and positive experiences for his clients, where the bride and groom can relax and really enjoy their celebration. He likes to start with a one on one sit down meeting before the event, and regularly checks in with the couple to make sure they’re having a great time. He is fun, energetic, talented, and just an all-around great guy!
Donald Bennett Disc Jockey & Master of Ceremonies Since: 1989 Style… Entertaining, Captivating, Memorable “I’ve had the pleasure of providing DJ entertainment throughout North Carolina and the New York city area for many years.” Don goes on to say, “My DJ philosophy is and always will be….. my client comes first!! I always go above and beyond. They deserve nothing but the best regardless of the event. From the most elegant weddings to small backyard events, every one of my clients, and this includes their family and guests, get treated with the utmost respect. What do I enjoy most about DJ’ing weddings? For me, the best part of being a wedding DJ is I’m able to make dreams come true. I really mean this! Many brides have been dreaming and planning there wedding since they were young. It’s very true that a DJ can make or break a wedding reception, and I LOVE making yours a success! By always providing top notch service I have the chance to see a couple’s special day take shape. From the early planning stages to the first dance and the final send-off. I work hard to help make your dreams a reality. I love seeing a bride smile from ear to ear on her special day. What does it take to be a great DJ? It takes a special kind of person to be a quality DJ. You have to be outgoing, calm in the face of pressure and stress, and truly care about doing a good job. A talented and experienced DJ will be able to adapt to any type of situation. On the very rare instance that something might not go exactly as planned a good DJ can overcome these situations while keeping the party going. I’ve had situations when the officiant got lost on the way to the ceremony venue. We just kept the ceremony ‘prelude’ music going a little longer and every one still had a nice time. Another little snag I remember… the caterer at one wedding I did was really, really slow. Not to pick on other vendors, things do happen, but at that wedding I just worked with the day-of-coordinator and consulted briefly with the bride and groom, we adjusted the timeline and moved some things around, and everything worked out just fine. It’s not just about playing the music, although of course that’s very important. Anyone can throw some songs on an *iPod* and hope for the best, but a truly capable DJ knows how to play the right songs in the right order, keep things on track for your guests, and make the bride and groom feel special and important– which you are! What makes your DJ performance different, unique or special? My goal is to create a memorable experience for you, your family, and your friends by exciting, enticing and engaging you and your guests through music and entertainment.
